THE WEEKEND
WHAT IT IS
Dirt Cheap Blues is an annual budget-friendly blues dance exchange in the Tidewater area. Originally founded to keep blues dancing accessible to everyone, this weekend-long event focuses entirely on what matters most: music, dancing, and community, without financial barriers.
Hosted by Tidewater Blues Dance, this exchange is a weekend-long celebration of Blues dance and community around the Tidewater area.
THE VENUE
Per tradition, days are spent soaking up the sun on the beach in Virginia Beach. Dancers can also spend their afternoons uncovering charming local gems around Norfolk along the Elizabeth River Trail; such as The Pagoda, the Chelsea area, and The Chrysler Museum, stretching downtown to Waterside. From Waterside, Portsmouth is just a ferry ride away, where you can grab a pint from The Bier Garden or catch a movie at the historic Commodore Movie Theatre.
When night falls, the real magic begins. Dancers from around the country gather together at the historic First Lutheran Church to dance early into the morning, in the heart of Tidewater. Come dance and hang out in our hometown!
